Sandra Berry

Sandra BerrySandra Berry  was born in Lancashire and educated in Newcastle. She was one of the first intake of students to the Open University in 1971 - adding a Diploma in Educational Management in 1984 and a Certificate in Family & Community History in 1994 - and spent her employed life working in schools and universities. She has always been interested in families and their interaction; her first venture into root-hunting was to clarify the family anecdote that her husband, Dennis, was descended from Admiral Sir Edward Berry, who fought alongside Nelson. Things still on the ‘Definitely Not To Do’ list include sky-diving, driving into Central London, full-time employment and the New York Marathon.

Things still on the ‘To Do’ list, however, include travelling across Canada by train, controlling the weeds on the allotment, taking part in ‘Strictly Come Dancing’, increasing the role of patients in NHS decision-making, and watching England win back the Ashes.

Sandra created Number 11 Publishing in February 2007 in order to publish her first book, The Cobbold Elliston Affair.  The second publication was the first part of the autobiography of her late husband,
Dennis Berry:   What Did You Do In The War, Daddy? describes the emotional roller coaster of his life during the Second World War.

Several others are planned to follow this successful launch,  Dennis's second fascinating and amusing book was published in November 2008 and is called That Heart Attack - a diary which he kept during his first heart attack in 1987 and for the following 112 days.

Another of the Cobbold family books was launched in October 2008 - The Gifts of Frank Cobbold, first written in 1935 by Arthur W Upfield and now revised for the modern market.
